We’re only half way through January 2014, but Viking already wants you to start thinking about your river cruise vacation for next year. The river cruise line announced today two new exciting itineraries for 2015.
Rhine Rhapsody River Cruise
The first is a 10-day trip Viking refers to as the Rhine Rhapsody, sailing on the Rhine, Main and Moselle rivers with visits to four countries: Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg and France. Stops include major historic cities as well as small towns unfazed by time: Basel, Strasbourg, Heidelberg, Rudesheim, Kraubach, Koblenz, Cochem, Bernkastel, Trier, Luxembourg, and Paris.
Sailing from Basel to Paris or from Paris to Basel, embarkation dates are April 2, 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, 25 and May 2. Making up the 10 days are 2 nights at the Le Méridien Étoile (or similar) in Paris and the 8 day cruise.Some notable highlights on this itinerary are visits to four UNESCO World Heritage Sites; a classical musical performance; and learning how to create your own Alsatian Flammkuchen and Rudesheimer coffee; lectures on the European Union and Rhine and Moselle Rivers.
River of History River Cruise
The other exciting itinerary, called the River of History, is 8 days long. Sailing the Rhine river and a little of the Main, the journey includes exploration time in Amsterdam, Nijmegen, Cologne, Remagen, Cochem, Koblenz, Braubach, Rudesheim, Heidelberg and Frankfurt.
Sail from either Amsterdam to Frankfurt or vice versa. Embarkation dates are April 5, 12, 19, 26 and May 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17.
The 8 day cruise delights with the following highlights: visits to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites; lectures on the European Union, the Rhine & World War II history; learning how to create your own Rüdesheimer coffee; and a classical music performance.
