As I’ve been mentioning in previous posts, Cruise Experts Travel president Denis Lim and I are hosting a group of our clients on AmaWaterways’ 16 day Mekong river cruise and Vietnam and Cambodia land tour. After two long flights, we were greeted by an AmaWaterways guide at Hanoi Airport with a friendly smile. As this is an activity-oriented trip, time to sit down and blog is very limited, but I’m trying my best to tweet, plus share photos here the next several days, starting with this post.
After we met our guide, we were brought to our hotel for two nights, the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi. Opened in 1901, it is built in the French colonial style and is a true 5 star experience.
The service and staff were just excellent. The rooms are well appointed and offer a welcome refuge from the noise and excitement of the streets of Hanoi.
On our first night we had drinks at the Bamboo Bar located in the court yard right next to the pool. The room had such an exotic feel with the bamboo fans and lantern lighting.
For breakfast you have a choice of several venues with a wonderful range of food options to satisfy the pickiest of palates. For dinner the hotel offers French, Italian and Vietnamese restaurants.
The courtyard garden and pool area is visually stunning, as well as proving to be a quiet oasis from the bustle of the city.
You’ll certainly be pleased staying here on your AmaWaterways trip. So far, the experience has exceeded my expectations.
